Let’s answer some of the most common questions

What time of day do you do your sessions?

Because I use natural light for my photography, the time of day that I take the pictures matters. The mid day sun is too harsh for flattering photos, so all of my sessions in summer take place in the hour before sunset to capture that magical light. In winter, you have the choice of doing a sunrise session or a sunset session. Newborn shoots, held in your own home, are done mid morning, commencing around 9 am.

When is the best time for maternity photos?

The best time for maternity photos is between 32-36 weeks. If you book outside this time, that is still OK!

When do you do newborn photos?

While the “classic” timeframe for newborn photos is within the first 2 weeks to get those sleepy bub moments, I will happily capture your bub for a newborn session at any time up to 3 months. After this point, we will consider it a family session.

Do you have a studio?

No. All of my family and maternity sessions are held on location, either beach or field. Newborn sessions are held in the comfort of your own home.

Which locations do you shoot?

We will discuss upon time of booking whether you would like a beach or inland session.

How many photos will be displayed in my gallery?

There will be a *minimum* of 50 photos in your online viewing gallery. The number of photos displayed will depend on the type of session

How long will it take to receive my gallery?

Your online viewing gallery will be delivered within 2-3 weeks from session date. You will be able to download your favourite high resolution files through your gallery page.

Am I able to print photos through you?

Yes. I can order prints, frames, and albums for you after you have received your gallery. I can design an album for you using your favourite photos. We can discuss different printing and framing options after you have received your gallery.

What should I wear?

The most important thing is that you feel comfortable in what you wear, as you want your family photos to represent you as a family. I recommend checking out sites like pinterest if you want inspiration on what to wear or coordinating outfits!

How do I prepare my children for an evening session?

Some simple things you can do to help prepare your children for their evening photo session include ensuring they have had their nap- even try pushing the nap a bit later in the day. For younger children, even squeezing in an extra nap can help. Make sure they have had dinner before their session, that way there are no hungry emotions! I recommend also bring along snacks to the session (ones that aren’t too messy!!), as well as water in case the children need a break. Make sure you tell your children beforehand they are going to a photo shoot. They will likely be more interested if they aren’t surprised by the session. Try to avoid a busy, strenuous day ahead of the session, this will help prevent the children from being over tired. Bring a change of clothing for after the session. Beach sessions often end with everyone a bit sandy and wet!

Will you travel for a session?

Unfortunately with two young children of my own at home, I am unable at this point in my career able to travel long distances. All of my sessions are held on the Sunshine Coast.
